Saturday night.
That skyline is precious.
Blackout.
Manhattan-Westside.

Subways, trains, end elevators-
The panic ensues.
Impromptu performances outside.
Thank God for technology.
Smart thinking smartphones
Illuminate the distance-
A midsummer nightmare.

Explosions and fire spark chaos--
But terror omitted--
Flukes do happen, you know?
Red light, green light--not the game to play in these crowds--
Sirens blare--
Familiar fear strikes the heart--
A faint reminder of that September--
You know which one.

Camaraderie--those in blue plus those surrounding--
Helping each other again.

ACs and summertime--
Power Failure.
What do celebrities do in the dark?

MSG and J-Lo--No glitter or shine--
Guide the happy listeners far away.

Generators generate excitement.

Midnight strikes then life resumes--
Heave a collective sigh of relief--
Manhattan breathes again.

Laughter and cheer--
I'm glad that you're near--
For those memories will last despite the utter chaos.
